Othello

I chose to use the scene in Act III, Scene IV of Othello where Othello kills Desdemona as the basis for my creation. I wanted to go beyond the original script and create a design with a unique style. So we began to make innovative adaptations of the character Iago in the play. Our first idea was that Iago was an author who controlled the overall situation. He was directing a complete performance as a bystander and instigator, so the chessboard element in the design came from my understanding that Iago was like a manipulator, a player manipulating the chessboard. But after discussion by the production team, it was decided to use projection technology, and then I decided to follow the current hot spots and use Iago as an intelligent AI to move the time background of Othello's storyline to the modern era. This adaptation is more in line with our use of shadows and chessboard elements.
